Minneapolis-based Sherman Associates named Chris Sherman as its president

Sherman will oversee the leadership team, driving the vision, direction and performance of all Sherman’s interests including multifamily, commercial and hospitality assets. Additionally, Sherman will direct mission and strategy for Sherman’s expansion in existing and new markets.

George Sherman will serve as chief executive officer.

Prior to his promotion, Chris Sherman served as Sherman’s senior vice president of operations and capital markets.

George Sherman’s role as CEO will also focus on new development to further Sherman’s advancement in both new and existing markets.  He will also remain committed to Sherman’s efforts to develop community impact projects, market-rate housing and workforce housing throughout the country.

Sherman is currently positioned to develop more than 1,000 market-rate multifamily units and 500 workforce housing units annually and is seeking value-add and historical renovation acquisition opportunities.

Chris Sherman officially joined Sherman’s development team in 2008 and was a critical lead in the re-syndication of Riverside Plaza, which led to the more than $65 million historical renovation of the iconic Minneapolis property.  Sherman then fronted several of Sherman’s new developments and historical renovations in Des Moines and Saint Paul.

He transitioned to Sherman’s operating and asset management team in 2012.   Since then, Chris Sherman has served as a key leader in Sherman’s financing strategy and operations for entire portfolio throughout the nation.
