Minneapolis’ THOR Companies moving to new HQ building

Real estate management company THOR Companies is moving to a new headquarters space in North Minneapolis in the spring of 2018.

THOR plans to relocate its headquarters into the $36 million, office/retail mixed-use building that it is constructing on the southeast corner of the Plymouth and Penn Avenues N. intersection. Much of the office space is already leased to tenants such as Target Corporation, MEDA (Metropolitan Economic Development Association) and Hennepin County’s NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center. Some prime, street-level retail space opportunities – especially well-suited for restaurants – remain available in the building.

THOR will occupy 17,500 square feet of third-floor office space in the 90,000-square-foot building. The indoor space is just the start: headquarters staff will have access to a park-like, 8,600-square-foot rooftop garden patio adjacent to the main office with views of the Minneapolis skyline.

The open-office floor plan minimizes the use of private offices along the windows, with private offices centered in the floor plate, leaving the natural light and views to be shared by all staff and guests. “

Windows span the entire length of the Plymouth Avenue side of the space, letting in abundant natural light – and providing a stage for more collaborative work spaces. Employees can meet in small groups in the various window seats, arranging the comfy seating as needed to meet their needs.

For work of a more confidential nature, staffers can retreat to one of four privacy booths built against the interior outer wall of the floor.
