Minnesota Brownfields names winner of Mac Hyde Scholarship

Mary-Genevieve Moisan

Minnesota Brownfields, an organization devoted to the promotion, efficient clean-up and reuse of contaminated lands, on April 11 announced the winner of the Mac Hyde scholarship.

Maclay “Mac” Hyde was an environmental law attorney and real estate developer of polluted, often abandoned brownfield sites. Hyde was a mentor to many in the field of brownfield redevelopment and environmental law.

At past ReScape Awards, Hyde was remembered through the Mac Hyde Leadership Award. The scholarship now honors Hyde’s life and legacy by supporting the next generation of brownfield redevelopment minds.

Minnesota Brownfields offers this scholarship to students pursuing studies in diverse fields related to brownfield development. The 2022 recipient of the Mac Hyde Scholarship is Mary-Genevieve Moisan.

Moisan is a fourth-year student at St. Catherine University. She is passionate about healthy aging and empowering populations to take action to revitalize their community environment. Moisan has completed public health and economics crossover research with professors, works in partnership with Ramsey County and is pursuing a master’s degree in public health.

She hopes to have a career in public-health policy.

The scholarship was presented at the 2022 ReScape Awards April 7 at the St. Paul Event Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
