Minneapolis-based Oppidan Investment Company will open the first of two planned apartment complexes in Watford City, N.D., the Pheasant Ridge residential development, on June 1.
The complex is a 42-unit building located just two blocks north of downtown Watford City. Construction began on the building in October of 2012 and will conclude at the end of May. Oppidan expects to break ground on a second 42-unit apartment complex on an adjacent lot this spring.
“Watford City is the fastest growing community within the Bakken region, and there is a significant demand for rental housing to accommodate the influx of workers and their families there,” said Joe Ryan, president of Oppidan. “We’re very happy to help meet that critical need.”
Ryan added that Oppidan is also meeting the community’s need for additional retail venues by developing Watford Plaza, a 120,000-square-foot commercial property that will include Cash Wise Foods, Alco, Happy Rice Buffett and Red Wing Shoes in addition to an Oppidan office. That development is expected to open in July.
