Minnetonka, Minn.-based The Opus Group earlier this summer completed construction on a 42,300-square-foot retail building for Gander Mountain in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Additionally, Opus has been awarded a contract from the retailer for a 45,600-square-foot building in Albany, Ga.
The new store site as the former site of Bear Bryant Motors, the car dealership owned by the legendary Alabama football coach.
“We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Gander Mountain on a third project,” said Philip Cattanach, business development manager at Opus Design Build, L.L.C., in a written statement. “We worked closely with Gander Mountain to ensure the project was completed on time despite heavy rains in the area, and we look forward to continuing to build on our relationship in the future.”
In addition to the project in Tuscaloosa, Opus constructed the new Gander Mountain store in Valdosta, Ga., and provided construction management services for the store in Opelika, Ala. The retail building in Albany, Ga., will be Opus’ fourth project with Gander Mountain and is slated for completion in October of 2013. These stores represent a new, smaller store concept for the retailer.
