A primary school recently built by Neenah, Wis.-based Miron Construction, recently earned one of the highest environmental honors.

Hillcrest Primary School, part of the Shawano, Wis., School District, has earned Gold LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The school earned 56 out of 80 possible points to earn its certification.

The certification is an important one for the school. Green schools, because they consume less energy, cost far less to run than do traditional school. Miron, then, has helped the school district reduce its annual operating costs.

Hillcrest Primary School achieved Gold LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as for incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies.
