Morgan / Harbour announced that the firm has been selected for a 26,000 square foot office remodel and a 8,000 square foot engineering laboratory expansion for Midtronics in Willowbrook, Illinois.
Located at 7000 Monroe Street, Midtronics develops and markets innovative battery management technologies for the transportation and standby power industries. Founded in 1984, Midtronics was recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of Chicago’s Most Inventive Companies in 2014, and was listed as one of the Top 25 Patent Portfolio companies in Chicagoland by the publication in 2013. This is the second project for Morgan / Harbour on behalf of Midtronics. The firm completed 18,000 square foot expansion/renovation at the firm’s other local facility at 7133 Monroe Street in 2012.
Construction at the headquarters will feature the addition of 140 office work stations with demountable partition systems, new AV systems, a new executive boardroom, and two additional meeting rooms. Morgan / Harbour will also complete extensive millwork, replace all flooring, apply new paint and lighting throughout as well as installing new acoustical ceiling tiles. A mezzanine will also be constructed above their new cafeteria to serve as additional seating for meetings and for collaborative break-out areas. The engineering laboratory expansion will include a state of the art research, development, and testing facility to further advance the company’s innovative appetite. Construction is scheduled for completion in late spring 2015.
Morgan / Harbour’s construction team included Executive Vice President/Partner, Ben Warriner, Senior Project Manager Graeme Foster, Project Manager Scott Heguy and Project Superintendent Keith Zagroba. Ware Malcomb is providing the architectural services.
