N. Kurt Mumm President NAI Ruhl & Ruhl Commercial Co. Des Moines, Iowa
N. Kurt Mumm’s peers sum up this industry veteran’s leadership style well: “Kurt is a genuinely inspirational leader who demonstrates high personal and professional ethics, motivating his staff and real estate team to follow his example. He makes it a joy to come to work. His people skills are unsurpassed.”
This ability to inspire others has meant good things for the Des Moines office of NAI Ruhl & Ruhl Commercial Co., the firm that Mumm serves as president. Ruhl & Ruhl continues to do solid business, even as the national economy and commercial real estate market struggles.
One of the reasons for this? Mumm.
Mumm’s peers point to his deep knowledge of his market, and his understanding of how deals in it are done. Mumm studies the Des Moines market, keeping abreast of the region’s trends and events. This knowledge, combined with Mumm’s work ethic, skill and ethics, mean that he always delivers the best deals to his clients, both the large and the small.
Mumm’s talents are more important than ever. During a time in which many brokerages have either downsized or closed, Mumm has grown NAI Ruhl & Ruhl to a company that now boasts 19 real estate brokers and agents. Despite the sluggish economy, 2010 ranked as the company’s top-grossing year to date.
In 2010, NAI Global chose NAI Ruhl & Ruhl as its Member of the Year. This is a big honor, one that Ruhl & Ruhl had to beat out 199 NAI offices to win. Mumm himself has earned several individual honors, including the NAI Global Eagle Award in 2010 and membership in the 2010 CoStar Group Power Broker club.
During his career, Mumm has represented several Fortune 500 companies. Specializing in consulting, investment and receivership brokerage, Mumm has also filled the role of court-appointed receiver on numerous foreclosure actions. Some of his bigger-name clients include American Trust, Mercy Medical, CW Capital, Midland PNC and North American Savings Bank.
Outside of work, Mumm finds time to serve several important charitable groups in his market. This includes the March of Dimes and the Rotary Club of Johnston.
“He is a leader we are honored to follow,” wrote a staffer at NAI Ruhl & Ruhl. “The atmosphere in all departments clearly reflects the standards he sets, which is a credit to him and the manner in which he conducts himself. As a company, we continue to grow in character, as well as in size, due to his leadership.”
