Southfield, Mich.-based NAI Farbman recently helped the corporate services division of Oakwood Healthcare, Inc. move 500 employees into two single-story buildings in Dearborn, Mich., owned by Ford Land.
“Oakwood Healthcare has been a part of the Dearborn community for more than 50 years, and it was important to us to keep our corporate services in Dearborn,” said Brian Connolly, president and chief executive officer of Oakwood. “The new location not only enhances efficiencies, it provides our non-clinical employees with a more collaborative work environment enabling them to share resources while continuing to provide outstanding service to the patients and communities we serve.”
The lease agreement with Ford Land provides Oakwood with a total of 135,000 square feet – an additional 25,000 more than the previous office space at an overall savings of 20 percent per square foot.
“Oakwood and Ford Land are deeply rooted in the community and share a similar commitment to serving the community,” said Donna Inch, chairman and chief executive officer of Ford Land . “We are delighted we were able to provide the right space to suit their needs and welcome them to Fairlane.”
Represented by NAI Farbman in obtaining the new location, Oakwood launched a year-long plan to prepare employees for the move while making minor renovations. The last department is scheduled to move on Oct. 4.
Oakwood Healthcare’s overall footprint in greater Dearborn and western Wayne County spans a 500-square-mile area, serving more than 1 million people in 35 communities. As the second-largest employer in suburban Wayne County, Oakwood is home to more than 9,000 employees and 1,300 physicians representing nearly every medical and surgical specialty and subspecialty.
