NAI Global has grown again, adding its latest member firm in March, NAI LaSala-Sonnenberg in Overland Park, Kansas.

Jay Olshonsky, president of NAI Global, told Midwest Real Estate News that his firm looks for specific qualities when adding new members. NAI LaSala-Sonnenberg boasted these, Olshonsky said.

“We look for people who are deeply rooted in their local comunities,” Olshonsky said. “The people here are deeply rooted in the Kansas City area. Local knowledge is very important. We also look at firms that are progressively looking at their business. We want firms that understand the value of reaching out beyond their local marketplace to be part of something bigger.”

Carl LaSala and Ray Sonnenberg formed what is now NAI LaSala-Sonnenberg in 1987. Three additional partners now manage it, Chad LaSala, Mike Sonnenberg and Brandon LaSala. The firm specializes in retail, office, industrial and medical properties.

Brandon LaSala said that joining NAI Global was an easy decision for him and his partners.

“We are very strong company in the Kansas City area. But one thing we lacked is that global scope,” he said. “Having a pulse on that side of the industry was important to us. With NAI, we have a ready-made platform to access that larger scope. It will help us to better service our clients outside of Kansas City when the opportunities arise.”

LaSala said that the change comes at a good time for NAI LaSala-Sonnenberg. Commercial real estate activity is on the rise throughout the Kansas City area. LaSala’s company now has more tools to compete for this increased business, he said.

“Activity here is improving across the board,” LaSala said.
