NAI Martens has brokered a 15-year lease agreement between the owners of Sweetbriar Shopping Center in Wichita, Kansas, and Aldi. John O’Rourke and Nathan Farha of NAI Martens represented Sweetbriar’s ownership in the transaction.

Aldi is already a tenant in the center, located at 2263 N. Amidon Ave., but will now expand into an additional 5,224 square feet. The global discount supermarket chain will now occupy 19,867 square feet. This added space will allow Aldi to offer its newest store concept.

The owners of Sweetbriar have agreed to demolish the vacant retail space west of Aldi to make the building a free-standing location. This will give the ownership a site of about 2.5 acres to allow for another use.

Construction is expected to begin in February and be complete by August.
