NAI Martens represented Cox Communications in the sale of the historic Union Station campus in Wichita. The sale closed Feb. 1.
The 9.5-acre site includes four buildings, two of which are listed on the national historic registry. The buildings total more than 111,000 square feet.
The final sales price was not disclosed, but the site’s list price was $6.5 million.
Occidental Management, a development company based in Wichita, is the new owner of the property. Occidental plans to convert the property to a mixed-use development that includes restaurant, retail and office.
When Union Station was built in 1914, it was known as the Daylight Station of America because of the number of windows it boasted, windows that bathed the station in natural light. The elevated tracks inside the station could accommodate 20 trains an hour.
