The National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts in early November announced the election of its 2017 officers, as well as the members of its executive board, the organization’s governing board, and its advisory board of governors.
NAREIT’s new chair is Timothy Naughton, chairman and chief executive officer of AvalonBay Communities, Inc. Naughton takes over from NAREIT’s 2016 chair, Edward Fritsch, president and chief executive officer of Highwoods Properties, Inc.
“I am pleased and honored to have the opportunity to serve our industry,” Naughton said. “Coming into this office, I have a solid foundation on which to build. My predecessors who served as chair have achieved a great deal on behalf of our industry. In the year ahead, I look forward to building on that platform.”
