GBT Realty Corporation, a commercial development and investment company based in Brentwood, Tennessee, his hired two real estate veterans to bolster its diversified development team:
- Wendy Welch Souris as Vice President of Diversified Development; and
- Kristen Heggie as Development Manager of Diversified Development.
GBT’s Diversified Development Division focuses on environments that blend multifamily, hospitality, office, retail and medical assets in high-growth urban and suburban markets primarily in the Southeast.
Both Souris and Heggie work as team members across GBT Realty’s Diversified Development footprint; however, Souris primarily focuses on River North and the former Beaman property on West End, one of the city’s most high-profile redevelopment sites. Development of the Beaman site is in partnership with Monarch Alternative Capital. Heggie is spearheading a residential high-rise project in Denver, Colorado, currently in design, while also playing a large role supporting all other Nashville projects.
With a 17+-year career in real estate, Souris joins GBT Realty from Brookfield Properties, where she spent the last six years focused on the implementation of mixed-use developments, most recently Fifth + Broadway in downtown Nashville.
Souris began in Nashville launching the Gulch with the delivery of the Terrazzo building in 2009 for Crosland. She then worked for the Atlanta office of JLL focusing on Nashville retail properties. Next, with Las Vegas Sands Corp., she split time between Las Vegas and Macau, China, providing project and interior design management for The Parisian and The St. Regis on Macau’s Cotai Strip before returning to Nashville for Fifth + Broadway.
Heggie has been in the real estate industry in Nashville for nearly 15 years. She has garnered experience across a multitude of roles as an owner’s representative, developer and construction manager for organizations such as Skanska, Brookfield Properties, DPR Construction and the Nashville Convention Center Authority.
During this time, Heggie has been involved with several ground-up, large-scale and complicated publicly- and privately-funded projects including Music City Center, Ascend Amphitheater & Riverfront Park, JW Marriott Nashville and Fifth + Broadway.
