Early residents of the Palm Harbor area originally established the community as one renowned for fishing, cattle, farming and citrus. The Greater Palm Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce has instituted the Annual Palm Harbor Citrus Festival to commemorate that culture.

Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc., a leading research and document-processing provider for the mortgage and financial industry, has participated in the Palm Harbor Citrus Festival for the past two years, and will continue to support this event as part of their community-focused initiatives. NTC has many employees who regularly volunteer time to the community, and this event was yet another opportunity for NTC to extend its commitment to bettering the community in which its employees live and work.

In early April, the Citrus Festival brought together many local businesses and encouraged members of the community to engage in the festivities. The festival had four components: (1) carnival; (2) “Dancing with the Stars”; (3) music; and (4) the Citrus Festival Queen Pageant.

Local businesses and organizations volunteered time and resources to raise awareness of the Palm Harbor area’s history and heritage. NTC, which partnered with the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA to host a citrus-themed tent for children’s art activities, was represented by several employees and their family members who, in addition to arts and crafts, provided games such as corn toss, juggling and bowling to entertain children of all ages.

Randy Nilsson, Executive Director of the YMCA, reports that the tent saw roughly 200 children and parents. The success of the event showcased the benefits of businesses and organizations aligning for a common cause, per Nilsson.

This event had support from several local organizations, including the Boy Scouts, the Rotary Club of Palm Harbor, the Palm Harbor Historic Society and Museum, the Palm Harbor Fire Department, and the Palm Harbor Community Center.
