Industrial real estate sales and leasing should continue this year on the same robust pace it set in 2012, predicts Thomas Boyle, incoming president of the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE).
“The industry experienced a precipitous rise in sales and leasing activity last year and all indicators point to continued recovery and statistical health for 2013,” said Boyle, a principal with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, who assumed leadership of the real estate trade group last month, succeeding 2012 President John Gledhill, a senior vice president of CBRE. “The expectation for 2013, based on the current metrics, indicates a lower overall vacancy rate by the end of this year and stable or higher rents and property values.”
Joining Boyle on the 2013 executive board are Vice President Chris Gary, NAI Hiffman; Secretary Scott Duerkop, Jones Lang LaSalle; and Treasurer Mike Prost, Lee & Associates.
Directors for the 2013 program year include Sergio Chapa, Lee & Associates; Brendan Green, Colliers International; Adam Marshall, CCIM, NAI Hiffman; John Coleman, SIOR, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank; Robin Stolberg, Jones Lang LaSalle; and Adam Tarantur, Podolsky Circle CORFAC International.
Responding to the changing dynamic of the industry, Boyle said AIRE introduced new products and services this year to support and promote member productivity, including the launch of AIRE’s new website and the capabilities it brings — many new custom features.
“Our members will be better able to market their listings and discover new alternatives for their tenants and buyers,” he said.
In 2013 AIRE will host regular monthly membership meetings in February, March, May, June, October and November at the Rosewood Restaurant in Rosemont. The association hosts a number of additional events, including a virtual market tour in April; a golf tournament in July; trade show and developer’s showcase in September; and holiday party in December.
