Manor Independent School District recently hosted a groundbreaking for Early College High School, to be located at 14832 N. FM 973, 78653 in Manor, Texas.
The future site will include 85,000 square feet of a collegiate atmosphere that will accommodate 800 existing and future scholars. The site’s open concept will welcome scholars in Fall 2023 and will provide the educational experience seen on college campuses, featuring a commons area, coffee shop and buffet-style café.
“This new campus means more academic opportunities for our students, teachers and ACC professors,” said ECHS Principal Dr. Alime Sadikova. “It gives students a collegiate atmosphere that provides them with academic freedom and still holds them accountable for their own learning.”
Manor voters approved a $280 million bond package in November of 2019. The bond proposal focuses on projects to accommodate student growth, make facility upgrades and repairs, and improve transportation, security and technology within the Manor district, as well as the new high school. These projects will help accommodate growth in the 9,500-student district, which is expecting to grow by 2.5% to 5% each year for the next 10 years, according to district student enrollment projections.
The total budgeted amount for ECHS is $35.5 million. HPM is serving as program manager for Manor ISD, providing project management, quality control and preconstruction services, as well as maintaining schedule and budget compliance during the next three years. The architect, Claycomb & Associates, was contracted by MISD and worked in conjunction with the administration to design the new high school. Satterfield & Pontikes Construction is the construction manager at risk.
