Ēma, a Mediterranean restaurant showcasing Chef CJ Jacobson’s lighter California style of cooking is now open in River North.
Novak Construction completed the 4,000 square foot restaurant build-out located within the Hyatt Place at 74 W. Illinois St.
Work included MEPFP systems, high-end millwork, lighting and decor finishes, new structural work for additional dining space, an exterior trellis, revolving door with operable window system and exposed concrete floors throughout. The hotel’s lobby, reception and restaurant were renovated while the hotel was open and operational.
The concept was created by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ Founder Rich Melman, Executive Partner Marc Jacobs and Chef / Partners CJ Jacobson, John Chiakulas and Rita Dever.
The 140-seat restaurant gives off a light, relaxed and comfortable vibe, with interiors of reclaimed wood, rustic white brick and funky, woven basket fixtures. Ēma also has a 36-seat patio opening late summer.
