NewMark Merrill Companies, Inc. is embaring on a $1.5 million remodel, refresh and upgrade of Bricktown Square, a 292,309-square-foot retail center at the northwest corner of N. Narragansett and W. Fullerton Ave. in Chicago.
NewMark Merrill acquired the property and currently owns and operates six other retail properties in the Chicagoland area including Winston Plaza in Melrose Park, Stratford Crossing in Bloomingdale, Stony Island Plaza in Chicago, Midway Square in Chicago, Pulaski Promenade in Chicago, and Marketplace at Six Corners in Chicago.
NewMark Merrill will make improvements to the center which will include combining two existing spaces into a single larger space for a new Skechers location at Bricktown Square; completing façade renovations and new paint to the ATI, Harbor Freight and LA Fitness buildings; adding new signage and wayfinding; and painting entire property with a new color scheme. Bricktown Square will also welcome two more new merchants later this year, Okini Buffet and Kinship Health. Since acquiring the property in June 2021, NewMark Merrill has renewed four tenants and generated a 39 percent increase in customer foot traffic to the shopping center, according to Placer.ai. With these new merchant additions, Bricktown Square is now 98 percent leased.
