Edie’s All Day Café & Bar (Edie’s) has completed a lease for approximately 4,000 square feet of ground floor restaurant space at Kingsbury Center, 354 West Hubbard, a building that is owned by an affiliate of Next Realty, LLC and The Habitat Company.
Scheduled to open in Spring 2022, Edie’s new location is its second in Chicago’s River North. Edie’s other café is located in the Wells Avenue Corridor.
The café/restaurant follows a new wave in the hospitality industry and a concept that has been further popularized during the pandemic. This concept is a blend of café, restaurant, workspace and wine bar—a place where people can meet, work and create throughout the day. Edie’s was founded by hospitality veterans Matt Matros, Arturo Gomez, and Chef Partner, Chris Dunstatter.
“We’re very excited to welcome Edie’s, and the exciting new concept it offers, to Kingsbury Center,” said Amy Levin, Director of Leasing, Next Realty and Matt Martin, Asset Manager, The Habitat Company. “Ground floor retail space in a dense urban environment like River North offers tremendous opportunity for building owners, retailers and dense day time and nighttime populations that need and desire convenience and services.”
The new Edie’s space as well as the remaining space available for lease support the 90,689 square feet of office space that is found in the six-story building. That space is leased to tenants that include The Habitat Company, Rockwell Partners, Tartan Realty, East Bank Club, Morton’s of Chicago, Oxford Capital, Related Midwest and MK Communications and more. Further, it rounds out the existing area retail tenants, including CVS, Petco, and Ace Hardware, presently serving the immediate sub-market. .
With the completion of the lease with Edie’s, approximately 3,200 square feet of second-generation, ground-floor retail/restaurant space remains available for lease at 354 West Hubbard. Edie’s is leasing the western portion of the space previously occupied by 3-Greens Market. The eastern portion of the space contains black iron, a large hood, prep sinks and large prep table.
Edie’s was represented in the transaction by David Goldberg, Founder, Goldstreet Partners and Allan Perales, COO Goldstreet Partners.
