Novak Construction completed an affordable housing project as general contractor for Full Circle Communities, a Chicago-based non-profit developer. The development, Pearl Street Commons, is a ground-up, three-story affordable housing apartment complex in downtown McHenry, Illinois.

The property, designed by Cordogan Clark & Associates, consists of 25 one- and two-bedroom apartments, with amenities that include a library, computer lab, community center, laundry room and outdoor recreation areas. “We are excited to complete another high-quality building that provides housing targeted to veterans and people with a disability,” said Jordan Bartle, project manager for Full Circle Communities.

This is not the first project for the Novak-Full Circle Communities team. In 2017, they completed Creekview Apartments, another three-story, 25-unit senior living and affordable housing project located in the historic area of downtown Richmond, Illinois.

“While this project was very similar to Creekview Apartments, it was slightly different and it had its unique set of challenges to overcome. The entire team of FCC, Cordogan Clark & Associates and Novak worked together to ensure another ENERGY STAR-Certified, affordable housing project was delivered to the community,” said project director, Jim Hempleman. ENERGY STAR-certified homes are on average 10 to 20 percent more efficient than homes strictly built to code.
