O’Brien Construction joined community leaders, project partners, local officials and Lighthouse to break ground on Auburn Place and Beacon Place, two affordable housing developments that will bring 94 units of affordable housing to Pontiac, Michigan.
Led by Lighthouse, a nonprofit dedicated to building equitable communities and alleviating poverty, the project includes both new construction and rehabilitation.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held July 23, at 454 Auburn Avenue, celebrated the official start of construction for Auburn Place, a new 54-unit, five-story affordable residential development, and the nearby redevelopment of Beacon Place, which includes 40 apartments and townhomes — 28 existing apartments at 101 Mechanic Street, and 12 townhomes at a nearby site adjacent to Auburn Place.
Both projects aim to provide high-quality housing options while maintaining the community’s character and integrity.
