Tec Inc. Engineering & Design and W.E. Monks & Co. Engineers announced today that Monks, a Columbus, Ohio-based engineering firm established in 1960, will merge with and become part of Tec, effective May 9.

Tec and Monks both offer similar mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services to clients in similar vertical markets, including health care and higher education.

Announcing the merger, Tec’s president, Terry Kilbourne, said, “This merger is a strong strategic fit for both firms, as it gives us a bigger, better toolkit of engineering resources to offer our clients. Monks’ professionals are highly experienced, and they bring great expertise and depth to Tec’s existing practices.”

With the merger, Tec’s Columbus office will have 10 engineers providing a range of engineering services to clients throughout central Ohio. Monks will house Tec’s Columbus office, and is located on North High Street in Columbus.

The merger brings the total number of engineers and design professionals at Tec to 27 in the firm’s offices in Cleveland and Columbus.
