The Opus Group recently completed the Ceylon Luxury Apartments, a six-story, 120-unit residential and retail development in the downtown business district of Clayton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Smoothie King is the first retail tenant on the building’s ground floor.

Ceylon offers residents a variety of layouts including studio, alcove, one- and two-bedroom units. All units include high-end modern finishes, including stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops with tile backsplash, expansive windows, private balconies and large closets.

Ceylon features two levels of underground parking and two amenity decks for residents – the East amenity deck, overlooking restaurant row on Central Avenue, and an interior courtyard, offering space for residents to gather. In these shared spaces, residents have access to a club and game room, a commercial-grade kitchen for entertaining, conference room, outdoor grill and fire pit. The residence also features a state-of-the-art fitness room with Fitness On Demand™, 24-hour package lockers in the mail room for greater flexibility in retrieving packages, a Starbucks on demand coffee bar and video enabled building access technology for enhanced security.

Situated in between the Old Town neighborhood and downtown Clayton, the architectural concept uses the building as a transition marker between the unique regions of Clayton. By taking into consideration the flow from the Old Town neighborhood into downtown, Ceylon’s design and construct is a nod to both communities’ cultures and bonds.

Smoothie King will occupy 1,377 square feet of the 13,297-square-foot retail space. Chris Zoellner and Jared Hancock of Balke Brown Transwestern are marketing the remaining 11,900 square feet of retail space for lease.

Opus Development Company, L.L.C. was the developer and Opus Design Build, L.L.C. was the design-builder. Opus AE Group, L.L.C. was the architect and structural engineer of record, as well as the interior designer. Ceylon builds on the successful completion earlier this year of Citizen Park, a luxury residential and retail development in the Central West End.
