Opus makes promotions across the Midwest

The Opus Group announced the promotions of five team members within Opus Design Build, L.L.C., as the company continues to grow across major markets and sectors. Luke Albers and Chris Cromos were promoted to senior project manager, and Tom Becker, Leith Dumas and Jeff Smith were promoted to vice president.

Luke Albers has been promoted to senior project manager. Albers joined Opus as in intern in 2004, and was a team member on projects including the Carlyle and The Nic on Fifth®. In his current role, Albers leads a team of project managers, architects and engineers to deliver integrated design-build services across multiple sectors. Albers currently holds a key role working on the 365 Nicollet high-rise apartment project that recently broke ground in downtown Minneapolis.

Chris Cromos has been promoted to senior project manager. Cromos joined the Opus team as an intern in 2006 and has since excelled in various project management roles including Varsity Quarters student housing and the Freightquote corporate headquarters projects. Cromos currently oversees all aspects of construction projects leading teams of architects, engineers and subcontractors, and is helping lead the development of the Uptown La Grange apartment project in La Grange, Illinois.

Tom Becker has been promoted to vice president. Becker joined Opus in 1994 and served in a wide variety of project management roles since. He has led efforts for Opus’ wood frame, market-rate apartment and student housing projects over the last 10 years and continues to provide oversight in his current role. Becker recently served as the interim vice president of construction in the Indianapolis office. He is also helping Opus Design Build explore opportunities in new sectors.

Leith Dumas has been promoted to vice president. Dumas has served as project executive in multiple sectors since joining the Opus team in 1984, including office, industrial, retail and high-rise residential. He oversees a team of project managers and associate project managers working on Opus buildings. Dumas also manages large, complex projects from project pursuit through design, construction and close-out across multiple sectors and is currently leading the Opus Design-Build project team on the 365 Nicollet project.

Jeff Smith has been promoted to vice president. Smith joined Opus in 1995 in Minneapolis and relocated to open the Des Moines office in 2005. Smith served as the project executive on a number of highly successful projects including the US Bank West Side Flats Operations Center, the Iowa National Guard, Gavilon world headquarter and the Iowa State Buchanan Hall residence hall project. He is currently responsible for all construction-related activities in Iowa and continues to help grow business and the team in Iowa.
