The Logistics Park Kansas City team of BNSF Railway and NorthPoint Development will begin construction of an industrial rail spur and North Park near the Logistics Park Kansas City Intermodal Facility in Edgerton, Kansas.
The rail spur will open 325 acres of rail-served property on Waverly Road north of 183rd Street known as North Park. At full build-out, the North Park will accommodate 3.4 million square feet of rail-served space, which is in addition to the 11 million square feet of warehouse building capacity at the intermodal facility.
BNSF’s multi-million dollar investment in building the industrial lead track coincides with the City of Edgerton’s Waverly Road Improvement Project. Construction of the rail spur is projected to be complete in mid-2016.
In addition, two experienced members of the BNSF Economic Development team — John Rider and Cary Hutchings — have joined the Logistics Park Kansas City team. Rider will work with customers interested in locating facilities in the rail-served North Park area. Hutchings will be primarily responsible for co-location of intermodal customers who are evaluating the intermodal facility for a warehouse or distribution facility. In these roles, both Rider and Hutchings will work closely with NorthPoint and all community partners to bring additional companies to the site.
