The Opus Group in early December completed construction of The Inn at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, an 18,500-square-foot renovation and expansion of the historic Phelps Infirmary, originally built in 1867. The landmark was repurposed into an on-campus inn and event space for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, Minn.
Shattuck-St. Mary’s School is an Episcopal boarding and day school serving students from around the world.
“The Inn at Shattuck-St. Mary’s was an exciting challenge for Opus,” said Tim Callahan, senior project manager for Opus Design Build, L.L.C., in a written statement. “It was an honor to participate in this project, recognizing the historical significance of the space.”
Opus helped Shattuck-St. Mary’s execute a complete remodel of the 147-year-old building, adding about 10,000 square feet of new space to the two-story complex.
The first floor of the building features a large meeting room with adjustable partitions, a catering kitchen, bar and lounge area that can be used for meetings and events. The second floor offers 12 guest suites.
