The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has selected Perkins+Will’s Minneapolis Office to create the master plan for Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet Chain of Lakes Regional Park.
Planning is scheduled to kick off this month.
The Master Plan will ultimately provide a list of recommended projects and associated cost estimates to accomplish them. This will lead to recommended park improvements and enhanced amenities.
Chain of Lakes is the most popular regional park in the seven-county metropolitan area, with more than 5 million visits annually. The majority of these visitors are from outside of Minneapolis, making this a key regional destination in the city. The project will involve a robust public engagement process as adopted by the Park Board’s engagement plan.
The plan is expected to be adopted in May 2016 by MPRB with implementation to begin in September of 2016.
