Podolsky Circle CORFAC International recently volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Schaumburg, Illinois, where the team packed and boxed meals for children in need across the world.
Founded in 1987, FMSC is a non-profit that provides nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. FMSC distributes food to nearly 70 countries around the world through humanitarian agencies and missions. All meals, 24 cents each, are funded by donors and packed by volunteers.
Podolsky Circle team members spent a day hand-packing rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which were then sealed, boxed and placed on pallets to be shipped to organizations to feed the neediest children around the world. The group raised over $1,000 and helped pack enough meals to feed 75 children for an entire year.
FMSC has six packing sites in Minnesota, Illinois and Arizona as well as a nationwide MobilePack operation that has traveled to 33 states. A full 94 percent of total donations go directly to the food program, earning FMSC the highest four-star rating from Charity Navigator.
“We couldn’t be happier to support Feed My Starving Children and their fight to feed malnourished children,” said Podolsky Circle managing principal Alissa Adler. “It was a fun and rewarding afternoon for our team.”
“As a company, it’s important for us to give back.” continued Adler. “In addition to our day jobs, Podolsky Circle leadership is very involved in a number of philanthropic causes.”
Other notable organizations in which Podolsky Circle members are affiliated with include The Jewish Council for Youth Services, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and The Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago. Additionally, Adler herself is the founder and committee member of Real Estate to the Rescue, an industry golf outing benefiting Save-A-Pet, a no-kill dog and cat rescue located in Grayslake, Illinois.
