Principle Construction Corp. has been selected to complete an 80,707-square-foot tenant improvement project for DPI Specialty Foods located at 6800 Santa Fe Drive in Hodgkins.
Principle was selected to build out 3,865 square feet of office space, 20,700 square feet of freezer space with 26-foot ceiling height, add 35,136 square feet of ambient storage, 5,746 square feet of cool dock and reconstruct 15,260 square feet of cooler space.
“Working with DPI and CBRE’s Keith Puritz to find the perfect balance of freezer/cooler capabilities, truck dock quantity, trailer storage availability, expansion opportunity, budget and location, finally resulted in this fantastic renovation of International Airport Center’s facility in Hodgkins,” said Mark Augustyn of Principle Construction Corp. “When complete, DPI’s new space will showcase how an existing facility can be completely transformed, in mere months, into a state of the art freezer/cooler, distribution facility.”
Headquartered in Ontario, Calif., DPI Specialty Foods is a principal supplier of perishable and non-perishable food items from five continents. The company has regional warehouses and management offices throughout the country to facilitate their national distribution system with temperature controlled trucking fleet logging more than 45,000 miles each day. DPI is part of the worldwide holdings of the Irish Dairy Board Co-Op Ltd. based in Dublin, Ireland, to allow for a global perspective.
Mike Long is serving as director of project Management and Doug Brucato is serving as senior superintendent for Principle. Ware Malcomb is serving as the project architect and Keith Puritz of CBRE represented DPI on its lease of 80,707 square feet of space within this 593,567-square-foot building.
