Principle Construction Corp. has been selected to construct two new buildings totaling 70,000 square feet, which will serve as an administrative, maintenance and shipping campus for SAIA LTL Truck Lines at 2260 S. Midlothian Road in Grayslake, Illinois.
SAIA provides regional and multi-regional LTL shipping and tracking for various companies.
The two new buildings will be constructed from the ground up on 33 acres. The first will be a 51,000-square-foot 16′ clear height structure that will feature more than 100 truck dock locations and 9,560 square feet of office space. The second building also features 16′ clear height, 19,000 square feet of shop/maintenance area and a fueling facility with six trailer service bays, six tractor service bays and two wash bays.
The 33-acre site will also be improved to include an automated snow scraper, truck scale and concrete pavement that will serve as parking for 94 automobiles, 294 Trailers, 34 tractors, 30 dollies and block heater stations for 62 tractors. Principle broke ground on the project on 4/27/15 and expects to complete the project on 11/30/15.
Principle’s Ken Lattanzi will serve as the Sr. Project Manager; Mark Frane will serve as the onsite Superintendent. Larry L. Christian Architects is the designer of the project. Cushman & Wakefield’s Jim Kueck is serving as SAIA’s Owner Representative
