RBC Plaza in downtown Minneapolis, has been named the “Renovated Office Building of the Year in the Midwest Region” by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). The 40-story Class A office and retail building is located on Nicollet Mall.
The award was presented at BOMA’s annual The Outstanding Building of the Year awards, also known as the TOBY awards. Earlier this year RBC Plaza was chosen as the local “Renovated Office Building of the Year” by the Minneapolis-St. Paul chapter of BOMA.
RBC Plaza is owned by KBS REIT III and operated by KBS Capital Advisors. Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq manages and leases the property on the owner’s behalf.The 709,690-square-foot property, located at 555 Nicollet Mall and 60 S. 6th St. in Minneapolis, underwent a multi-million dollar renovation throughout 2014 and 2015 and emerged as a unified retail and office complex with new office square footage, a redesigned ground level and vastly improved retail offerings.
Highlights of the renovation include:
- The merging of the former first floor of 555 Nicollet Mall with the RBC Plaza tower, made possible through the removal and reconfiguration of the wall separating the two structures.
- Two levels of retail stores and cafés including D’Amico & Sons, Sprout Salad Company, Caribou Coffee, The Fresh Market, Fixology, Subway, Affinity Federal Credit Union, Joern Samaha & Associates and soon to be Five Guys (summer 2016).
- A prominent entry from Nicollet Mall including an exterior glass canopy and building identification.
RBC Plaza is now 93 percent leased, with recent new leases including a 31,500-square-foot agreement with law firm Fish & Richardson to occupy the renovated third floor of office space and a 4,500 sq. ft. lease with CoStar for office space in the tower’s 24th floor. Both tenants will complete their move-in this summer.
