RD Management plans to develop the mixed-use Muskegon Shopping Center at 3530 Henry St. in Muskegon, Michigan. The new project will include the removal of a vacant 134,874-square-foot former Kmart parcel, renovation of the 32,338 square feet of adjacent retail space and the construction of five, three-story residential buildings todal 126 units.
Demolition of the former Kmart parce will begin in late spring of 2019.
Mercy Health has agreed to purchase a 6.2-acre subdivided parcel of the existing shopping center to build a 40,900-square-foot medical office building that will include urgen care, physical therapy, research laboratories, a pharmacy and doctor’s offices.
“This development is a much-anticipated project in Muskegon,” said Richard Birdoff, principal and president of RD Management. “Not only are we capping the former Kmart’s 14-year vacancy, we’re also bringing a top-line healthcare provider and new housing options to the community.”
