Real estate entrepreneur and broker Hasani Steele of RE/MAX Premier Properties, Chicago, was recognized as the Top Renovator, Residential Multi-Unit Renovation, at the Chicago Association of Realtors 2016 Good Neighbor Awards ceremony last month. Six projects in which Steele was involved last year were named winners of Good Neighbor Awards.
Those six projects, all in Chicago, were at 1806 S. Throop St., 4456 S. Berkeley Ave., 4332 S. Champlain Ave., 1528 N. Washtenaw Ave., 463 E. 41st St., and 627 E. 41st St.
The Top Renovator Award reflects superior rebuilding efforts and takes into consideration a range of other factors, such as residential design and the impact of the project on community development, according to Kelly Mead, chair of the 2016 award ceremony.
The team won the lion’s share of the Good Neighbor Awards in the multi-unit residential category, and has a strong track record of developing vacant land and dilapidated buildings into market-leading properties.
Steele pointed to 1806 S. Throop St., a Good Neighbor Award winner this year, as a trailblazer in the real estate market of Chicago’s Pilsen community.
“The appraisers didn’t understand the value, but buyers felt it was worth it. They like our brand of integrity, innovative design and quality construction,” Steele said. “That’s how we help create a market turnaround. These trailblazing projects give other developers the courage to say, ‘If they can do it with Steele Consulting, then we can too!’ “
