Reed Construction recently completed an 11,250 square foot remodel of the Acute Care Rehabilitation Center at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois.
Reed was selected by MacNeal to complete the renovations, which involved an interior demolition and complete rebuild, as well as significant upgrades to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Upgrades were also made to a major portion of the base bid electrical infrastructure. The new suite offers 13 patient rooms, two nurse’s stations, an employee break room and a room for secure storage of medications. In addition, the suite features a fully-equipped rehabilitation gym and an Activities of Daily Living (ADL) apartment, where patients can practice living independently under the supervision of their respective healthcare professionals.
The new space also features high-end finishes, including ceramic tile in patient bathrooms, resilient flooring in patient rooms and corridors, decorative wood film on elevator doors, high-end light fixtures and crown molding throughout. The entire project was completed in an expedited, 7-week timeframe.
Rich Melone, team leader for Reed’s Healthcare Division, led the team for Reed Construction. Joe Kozlowski was the project manager, Mac Flasch was the project engineer and Scott Hansen was the project superintendent. Architectural services were provided by MRF, Ltd. of Western Springs, Illinois and interior design services were provided by In.design, inc. of Boca Raton, Florida.
