Reed Construction recently completed 5,729 square feet of renovations at the Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership, located at 610 S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
The institute was originally founded in 1924 as Chicago’s College of Jewish Studies. The building features state-of-the-art classrooms, a theater, exhibit space, a library and a vast collection of art, archives, books, music and film. In addition, the building houses the event space Venue SIX10.
Spertus Institute selected Reed Construction to complete renovations on the fourth floor of the LEED Silver certified building, including installation of a new Lutron® lighting system. This state-of-the-art system has the capability to self-dim or power down lighting, as well as self-adjust heating and cooling levels in the space to conserve energy. Other additions included floor-to-ceiling glass panels and an operable partition to divide or enlarge classrooms. The largest classroom features tiered seating to comfortably seat around 90 students.
