Indiana Landmarks has made a deal with Cunningham Restaurant Group to open a restaurant in Evansville, Indiana’s, historic Greyhound Station.
The city gave the vacant 1939 Art Moderne building to the nonprofit preservation organization in 2013 with the stipulation that it be restored and returned to use. Indiana Landmarks completed the exterior restoration this year, culminating with the relighting of the running-dog neon sign in June. Under the agreement with Cunningham, Indiana Landmarks will renovate the interior. The restaurant is expected to open in June of 2016.
Cunningham owns 16 restaurants, including Boulder Creek Dining Company, Charbonos, Moerlein Lager House and several Stone Creek Dining Company locations, as well as Mesh on Mass, BRU Burger and Union 50 in Indianapolis’s Massachusetts Avenue Historic District.
In addition to the Indianapolis metropolitan area, the group operates restaurants in Cincinnati, Lexington and Louisville.
