Chicago developer Fifield Companies will break ground next week on a mid-rise apartment building at 740 N. Aberdeen Street. Located in Chicago’s River West neighborhood, the FitzGerald Associates Architects-designed transit-oriented development will overlook the Kennedy Expressway.
The 11-story building is scheduled to deliver 188 luxury apartments in fall 2020. Morgante Wilson Associates will design the interiors and McHugh Construction will act as general contractor. 740 Aberdeen also will include a public park designed by Hitchcock Design Group, which will feature a dog park, green spaces and various seating.
Indoor amenities will include a penthouse-level party room designed by Brianne Bishop Design, a coffee bar, coworking space, fitness center and bike storage and maintenance space. In addition to the public park, outdoor amenities include a landscaped sun terrace with pool and shade cabanas, grilling stations and private lounging and dining areas. An on-site parking garage with 80 spots will serve primarily residents. The building will also feature 2,400 square feet of ground-floor retail.
The mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom residences at 740 Aberdeen range from 540 to 1,513 square feet and will offer condo-quality finishes and sophisticated amenities on the current site of a parking lot and a vacant 5,000-square-foot building. Located steps from the popular Milwaukee Avenue bikeway, the TOD is also less than a block from the CTA Chicago Blue Line station.
