RJM Construction, a Minneapolis-based general contractor, recently began renovating the historic Northwestern Building. Located at 219 N. Second St., the Northwestern Building is an 85,000-square-foot, four-story, multi-tenant office building in Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood. Construction will be completed by summer of 2014.
RJM Construction is renovating 26,000 square feet of common areas in the Northwestern Building, which was originally built in 1914 as a glass factory. Renovations include restored windows, repairs to the roof and building exterior, mechanical system improvements, elevator upgrades and new finishes in common areas of the building.
In addition to RJM Construction, project partners include developer The Ackerberg Group and AWH Architects.
RJM Construction also is renovating space in the Northwestern Building for tenant Yamamoto, which will occupy 12,000 square feet on the second floor. Construction of Yamamoto’s space will be completed in early November of 2013. In addition to RJM Construction and The Ackerberg Group, project partners include broker Colliers International and architect Gensler.
The Northwestern Building represents the third historic building RJM Construction has renovated in the North Loop neighborhood. The company completed its renovation of Ford Center in 2011, and is currently working on renovations to the Loose-Wiles building, where RJM Construction has its offices.
