Minneapolis-based RJM Construction will begin work in May on the Braemar Golf Dome in Edina, Minn. Located at 7420 Braemar Blvd., the 50,000-square-foot dome is owned by the city of Edina. Construction will begin mid-May and be complete by November of 2013.
RJM Construction will replace the fabric dome, which was damaged by a fire in 2012, and add a detached accessory support building. New upgrades to the dome and building structure will increase energy efficiencies. The dome fabric will get a special coating to repel dirt and snow, and new insulation will be added to the walls of the dome. Other new features include a fire-suppression system, steel upper-deck and an underground stormwater retention system.
“The dome is an important part of our parks program here in Edina, and we look forward to having it up and running in time for winter golfing this year,” said Ann Kattreh, director of parks and recreation with the city of Edina in a written statement.
In addition to the city of Edina and RJM Construction, the project team includes architect Cuningham Group, civil engineer Anderson-Johnson Associates, structural engineer Clark Engineering Corporation and mechanical and electrical engineer Hallberg Engineering.
