RKF has arranged a 5,254-square-foot lease at 1630 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown with athletic shoe and apparel retailer ASICS. This will become ASICS’ first store in the Midwest, and third in the United States, when it officially opens early next year.
RKF Vice President Lorraine Adney and Senior Director Lara Keene represented the landlord, 1630 Damen LLC c/o Jenel Management Corp., on the long-term lease. The tenant, Windsor Financial Group LLC, an independent licensee of ASICSAmerica, was represented by Jennifer Fitzpatrick of Blatteis & Schnur.
The new Bucktown store will feature 3,292 square feet of retail space, and an additional 1,962 square feet on a lower level. 1630 N. Damen is a three-story historic retail/residential building in the heart of the Bucktown/Wicker Park Retail Corridor.
“This is a strong shopping district with an intriguing mix of male and female targeted retailers,” said RKF’s Keene. “Coupled with other strong national fitness related tenants such as Nike and lululemon athletica, as well as broader fashion retailers like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Intermix, Cynthia Rowley and Joe’s Jeans, it’s easy to see why this was an optimal location for ASICS to further develop its brick-and-mortar presence.”
ASICS’ U.S. flagship is located in New York’s Meatpacking District. Their only other U.S. location is in the Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach.
