James V. Inendino, an attorney and partner with Roetzel in Chicago, recently represented Crown Commercial Real Estate and Development Inc. and its president, Musa P. Tadros, in a joint venture agreement with David Burke Group to open a restaurant for the new Hotel Indigo under development just north of Chicago’s Millennium Park. Inendino also finalized the hotel franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group PLC and a 20-year management agreement with First Hospitality Group Inc.
Tadros purchased the boutique hotel property at 168 N. Michigan Ave. in June 2012 for $7.25 million. Overlooking Millennium Park and scheduled to open in May or June 2014, the hotel will feature 150 rooms, a rooftop bar and a yet-to-be-named upscale restaurant by celebrity chef David Burke. The restaurant also will provide room service meals.
“David Burke has proven success with his restaurants and we are delighted to welcome him into the newest and most exciting hotel development in the Loop,” Tadros said.
Tadros said Burke was attracted to the property – formerly the Atlantic Bank Building – partly due to his vision of integrating the building’s old bank vault into the dining experience. The same team will design both the restaurant and hotel, which will provide guests with access to the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park and other downtown attractions. The building’s rooftop bar will offer views of downtown and Millennium Park for hotel guests and local residents.
“These development agreements demonstrate a commitment to the revitalization of a bustling downtown neighborhood with a rich past,” Inendino said. “We also are moving forward with other agreements relating to the property, and Musa Tadros and his company are fully vested in making this property a premiere attraction in Chicago.”
Inendino added that the hotel already is accepting group and guest bookings well into 2015.
