Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin held a kids’ handprint ceremony Tuesday to mark construction progress at the future site of its Mequon Clinic. Scheduled to open in late summer 2016, the Mequon Clinic is being developed by Ryan Companies US, Inc. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s North Shore Pediatrics, a primary care clinic, will move into the new Mequon Clinic, along with specialty care and urgent care services currently located at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s Fox Point Clinic.

As part of the handprint ceremony, children and adolescents from the North Shore area who are patients of Children’s Hospital placed handprints in paint to create an art project that will be permanently displayed in the new clinic. Joining the children at the ceremony were Peggy Troy, CEO, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin; Mequon Mayor Dan Abendroth; Wisconsin State Senator Alberta Darling; Wisconsin State Rep. Jim Ott; Mark Shapiro, president and CEO, Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center; Monica Arnstein, president, Fox Point-Bayside School District PTO; and Ryan Marks, and managing director, Ryan Companies US, Inc.

Pediatric services that will be provided at the Mequon Clinic include: adolescent gynecology; asthma/allergy; audiology; behavioral health; cardiology; dermatology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; headache/pain; imaging (fluoroscopy, ultrasound, echo and MRI); neurology; orthopedics; ophthalmology; sports physical therapy; development physical therapy and occupational therapy; primary care; pulmonary; sleep; speech; sports medicine; urgent care and urology. There will also be on-site lab and pharmacy services.

“Our new Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Mequon Clinic continues our commitment to bring care closer to home for Wisconsin children and families,” said Troy. “We’re hearing from North Shore area families that they are looking forward to the convenience of having primary and specialty care located under one roof with a lab and pharmacy. This co-location of services will mean better coordinated care for families, and less school and work time missed for appointments.”

Ryan Companies is developing and constructing the new 40,000-square-foot clinic on an approximately six-acre site at the southwest corner of Mequon Road and Market Street. The two-story building will be a traditional steel structure with the majority of the exterior skin made of brick, stone and fiber cement paneling. Interior spaces will feature bold, fun colors, which will be blended with durable aesthetics; a combination that is both practical and functional in pediatric medical settings.
