S. M. Wilson & Co. celebrated the dedication of the Madison County Transit (MCT) Administration Building in Edwardsville, Illinois, and also welcomed Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker to the ceremony.

This 27,000-square-foot ADA-compliant facility was made possible through funding provided by the Rebuild Illinois capital program, in addition to funding from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), which is under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and local funds.

Located on the north side of MCT’s current Base of Operations, this two-story building consolidates all base staff under one roof with staff offices, conference rooms, and a clearly defined public access area. Site improvements also included new video surveillance and access control systems, new computer servers, new fencing, and security gates at all entrances, as well as a new Chain of Rocks Road bus pull-off and shelter, new employee and visitor parking, site lighting, sidewalks, utility connections and improved stormwater drainage and detention.

“S. M. Wilson is honored to have been selected to construct this exciting project for MCT in their efforts to streamline their public service operations and provide them room and technology for future growth and advancement.  Our teams worked great together in a true partnership with the Architect (AAIC) and MCT,” said Clay Collard, Project Manager with S. M. Wilson.

All of the MCT services are operated by Agency for Community Transit. Those services include Madison County Transit, public bus service; Runabout, paratransit bus service; RideFinders, Carpool/Vanpool; and MCT Trails, and bikeways.

S. M. Wilson has completed other public projects throughout Illinois and Missouri including the City of Highland Public Safety Building, City of Edwardsville R. P. Lumber Center, Creve Coeur Fire Protection District Fire Station No. 2, City of Maplewood Fire Station No. 1 and City of Frontenac Municipal Building.
