Senior BIM/VDC specialist with Kraus-Anderson earns tech award

Andrea Blair

BuiltWorlds, a digital platform for building trends and technology, has listed Andrea Blair, senior BIM/VDC specialist for Minneapolis’ Kraus-Anderson, as a top tech adoption leader. BuiltWorlds recognizes industry leaders who help their companies find, select and implement new technologies.

“When people entered the construction industry years ago, they focused more on areas such as project management or engineering, but not on technology management,” said Tom Emison, vice president of strategy for Kraus-Anderson Companies. “Today’s industry features numerous competencies and specialists, including thought leaders like Andrea, who, along with her teammates in KA’s Pre-Construction Group, have done an amazing job of leveraging emerging technologies so our project teams can more effectively collaborate, preplan and execute our work.”

Blair, a LEED Green Associate, began with KA in 2012 as a project assistant. In 2014, she joined the company’s Virtual Design and Construction and Building Information Modeling program. Utilizing lean thinking, she works on projects in numerous construction sectors including healthcare, hospitality, industrial, housing and education.

Blair received her bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from The Art Institutes International in Minneapolis. She is a member of the Association of Women Contractors and U.S. Green Building Council. Blair is also a certified FAA Part 107 UAS Pilot.
