Shawmut Design and Construction celebrated the opening of Nobu Hotel Chicago, the first-ever Nobu Hotel in the Midwest. Developed by Nobu Hospitality, the hotel was designed by Modif Architecture and local design firm Studio K to bring Japanese-inspired aesthetic and an urban design to the city’s West Loop.
“Continuing our longstanding relationship with Nobu Hospitality, we were able to work seamlessly with all teams to bring this stunning new hotel to life,” said Randy Shelly, executive vice president of hospitality at Shawmut. “Our extensive hotel experience, history with the brand and deep bench of expert Chicago builders and partners allowed the team to successfully bring this project across the finish line.”
Situated in Chicago’s West Loop, the hotel features 115 guest rooms and suites, The Rooftop at Nobu, flexible meeting and event space, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and an indoor serenity swimming pool. The signature Nobu restaurant and bar will open at a later date. Finishes include intricate built-in millwork, custom artwork and the use of textured and natural materials with Japanese roots.
