Minneapolis-based real estate developer Sherman Associates broke ground on The Edge at Gray’s Landing, a 90-unit workforce housing development in downtown Des Moines. The $16 million project is expected to be complete in late 2016.
The Edge at Gray’s Landing is one portion of the multi-phase Gray’s Landing development by Sherman, a development that also includes a Holiday Inn Express currently under construction and several other upcoming developments including The Nexus, a 142-unit luxury apartment building, and a 70,000-square-foot office building.
When construction is complete, The Edge will be a four-story building with enclosed parking.
Beyond its location, The Edge offers residents a community room, fitness center, in-unit washer/dryer and security. The project will incorporate innovative storm water management techniques, including rainwater harvest and reuse.
Knutson Construction will serve as the general contractor on the development. Brett Kranz, Knutson project manager, will lead the team.
