The Chicago Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors recently presented the 17th Annual Chapter Awards in a presentation held on February 26.
The program is designed to honor the organization’s prestigious Platinum Sponsors and SIOR members who completed transactions within the Chicago Chapter or with a Platinum Sponsor.
The awards were created by Joyce Slone, SIOR of Slone Commercial LLC (who has chaired the committee each year) to recognize those SIORs and sponsors for their outstanding achievement throughout the year as well as commend those that are committed to helping other SIORs reach their goals. In total, 38 SIOR members and 15 Platinum Sponsors completed 134 cooperative transactions totaling approximately $1 billion. The following are the individual awards for achievement in 2018.
Largest number of transactions – Intra Chapter (with members within the chapter or with a Platinum Sponsor): Ron Behm, SIOR, Colliers International and Justin Lerner, SIOR, Transwestern – tied with 44 transactions each.
Largest Dollar Volume Transaction – Industrial Build-to-Suit for lease with Platinum Sponsors: Mike Fonda, SIOR, of Avison Young represented Berner Foods Distrubtion Center for the 675,360-square-foot lease valued at $36,045,992. Platinum Sponsor Venture One Real Estate was the developer and Platinum Sponsor Clayco was the design builder.
Largest Dollar Volume Transaction – Industrial Spec Building for Lease with Platinum Sponsors: Platinum Sponsor Meridian Design Build built a 124,575-square-foot building for Molto Properties in Woodridge with Platinum Sponsor Harris Architects providing architecture services.
Largest Dollar Volume Transaction – Office for Lease: David Ariola, SIOR, Chicago Realty Company, represented RMMS Law Firm for the leasing of 32,718 square feet valued at $14,500,000 and Mark Robbins, SIOR, Avison Young represented the landlord.
Largest Dollar Volume Transaction – Industrial Building Lease: Dan Leahy, SIOR, and Adam Roth, CCIM, SIOR, of NAI Hiffman represented Platinum Sponsor CenterPoint Properties for the leasing of 250,456 square feet valued at $41,881,223.
Largest Dollar Volume Transaction – Industrial Building Sale: John Suerth, SIOR, CBRE, represented Platinum Sponsor Hillwood Investment Properties for the sale of a 992,640-square-foot building valued in access of $50,000,000.
Largest Dollar Volume Transaction – Industrial Investment Transaction with Platinum Sponsors: Jim Estus, SIOR, and David Bercu, SIOR, Colliers International, represented Platinum Sponsors the McShane Companies and Conor Commercial for the sale of four buildings totaling 741,586 square feet and 12 acres of vacant land valued at $73,500,000.
Largest Dollar Volume Land Transaction with a Platinum Sponsor: Dan Cawley, SIOR, Cawley Chicago, represented Abbot Land who purchased the 28.77 acres valued at $5,278,050. A TIF was put in place and it was sold to Platinum Sponsor IDI Logistics.
Most Build-to-Suit Transactions Completed Between SIOR Members and Platinum Sponsor: Venture One with two transactions.
Most Transactions Completed by a Platinum Sponsor with Chicago SIOR members: Venture One with 48 transactions.
