The Sioux Falls Development Foundation recently announced the creation of the first economic development megasite in the state of South Dakota, Foundation Park.
Created by the Sioux Falls Development Foundation in partnership with the Governor's Office of Economic Development, the City of Sioux Falls and Forward Sioux Falls, the 800-acre Foundation Park sits at the intersection of Interstates 90 and 29 within minutes of the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
"World-class companies require global connectivity," said Slater Barr, president of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, in a written statement. "With high-capacity utility and communication infrastructure in place and the transportation options that this site offers, we can appeal to some of the largest projects in the country."
Foundation Park is the latest in a line of industrial parks offered by the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. The parks began in the early 1970s with the 200-acre Sioux Empire Development Park I. Since then, the development foundation has helped create nine industrial parks. These parks serve 140 companies and 13,000 employees on 1,351 acres.
Foundation Park is the most ambitious offering yet, and required the Sioux Falls Development Foundation to partner with the Governor's Office of Economic Development, Forward Sioux Falls and the City of Sioux Falls.
