Skanska USA has signed a construction management contract with the University of Kentucky for the renovation and expansion of the university’s Gatton College of Business and Economics building.
The project will consist of additions totaling 60,000 square feet and 139,000 square feet of renovations.
The project will include new classrooms, both tiered and flat “smart” style, furnished with a state-of-the-art projection system and smaller breakout rooms to facilitate high-impact, peer-to-peer learning. The new space will also include a new auditorium, trading floor and “innovation laboratories” to support action learning, creative problem-solving and leadership development.
Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Lexington-based Ross Tarrant Architects will provide design services for the project.
Work will begin in November with an anticipated completion in March of 2016.
